At the upcoming open research seminar of the National Bank of Ukraine, they will examine how financial markets react to news about support for Ukraine from the West. The event will take place this Friday, December 12, from 16:00 to 17:00. The speakers at the event will be Matthias NoyenKirch from Trier University and CESifo, Maria Repko from the Center for Economic Strategy, and Enzo Weber from Regensburg University and IZA. They will present the results of the research on the impact of various news about support for Ukraine on financial markets.
The research covered the market reactions to support directly before and after the weekend news and also differentiated between 'hawks' and 'doves' – those who advocate strengthening Ukraine's positions in the conflict and those who perceive events more cautiously. The study showed that markets react to such news unevenly, and the reaction can be unstable during the initial months of the conflict.
Details and registration links for the seminar can be found in the comments. Remember, the language of the event is English.
