Kyiv resident Natalia Subbotska achieved a pension recalculation when the Pension Fund refused to recognize her work record for 1985–1993 due to the liquidation of the institution and the union where she worked. Thanks to persistence and the right actions, the woman received the payments she was entitled to without a court trial. This was reported by lawyer and activist of the NGO "Social Movement" Vitaliy Dudin.
History of the insurance record of the Kyiv resident
Natalia Subbotska led a union in one of the capital's educational institutions from 1985 to 1993. Despite a clear entry in her labor book, the Pension Fund did not recognize this period because the educational institution and the union ceased to exist.
How the lawyer helped the woman defend her insurance record before the PFU
Lawyer of the NGO "Social Movement" Vitaliy Dudin helped solve the problem by suggesting sending requests to the successor school, archival institutions, and the city trade union of the housing and communal services.
"It was the trade union of housing and communal services that found the necessary documents – minutes of appointment and dismissal", – explained Dudin.
After their submission, the Pension Fund recognized the record and recalculated the pension without additional certificates or court proceedings.
What to do in similar situations
-
Gather evidence: send requests to archives, successors, or unions where documents may be stored.
-
Check your labor book: clear records can serve as the basis for challenging a refusal.
-
Contact lawyers: public organizations like "Social Movement" provide consultations.
-
Do not give up: persistence helps defend rights without courts.
This case shows that even in the absence of documents, it is possible to restore the record if you know where to turn. For many Ukrainians, especially those who worked in the 80s and 90s when institutions were often liquidated, this is a relevant issue. The story of Natalia Subbotska is an example of how persistence and the right approach can yield deserved payments.
