In Ukraine, starting from January 1, 2026, changes to legislation have come into effect, expanding state support for families with children. This includes the introduction of a monthly childcare assistance for children under one year of age in the amount of 7 thousand UAH. This is reported by “Sud.ua”.

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine has informed about the new payments. In addition to the monthly assistance, the state has also increased a number of one-time and prenatal payments that have been in effect since the beginning of the year.

Child assistance for children under one year: who and how much will be paid

According to the new rules, families can expect the following types of support:

  • monthly assistance for childcare for children under one year – 7,000 UAH;
  • for families raising a child with disabilities, the payment increases to 10,500 UAH;
  • one-time assistance at the birth of a child increased to 50,000 UAH;
  • prenatal support for uninsured pregnant women – 7,000 UAH per child.

Monthly assistance is appointed from the day following the end of the maternity leave and is paid until the child reaches one year of age.

How to apply for payments and where to turn

You can submit an application for assistance through the Pension Fund of Ukraine or using the eMaliatko service in the Diia application. The Ministry of Social Policy emphasizes that due to the technical implementation of the program, it is advisable to submit documents directly to the Pension Fund.

To apply for payments, you will need:

  • an identity document;
  • TIN (if available);
  • birth certificate of the child;
  • medical certificate of temporary incapacity for work due to pregnancy and childbirth;
  • representation document, if the application is submitted by someone other than one of the parents.

The background for the changes has been the need to strengthen social protection for families with children in the context of war and rising costs of caring for infants.

We remind you that starting from January 1, 2026, for families that raise a child with disabilities, the amount of state assistance will be 12 thousand UAH per month.
