Ukraine's Support System for Military Personnel
Ukraine has established a comprehensive support system for soldiers following their release from enemy captivity. This program provides medical, psychological, rehabilitative, and social assistance. Currently, 80 facilities across 22 regions of Ukraine are delivering these services to defenders. Upon release, soldiers undergo an initial medical check. If their condition is stable, they are then directed to reintegration centers for a full assessment and the development of a personalized treatment plan.

The assistance program encompasses several critical areas:
- Medical support, including tests, examinations, and treatment;
- Psychological support to address trauma, stress, and PTSD;
- Rehabilitation to restore physical functions;
- Social aid to help with processing documents and accessing benefits.
This initiative is a crucial part of Ukraine's commitment to caring for its veterans and those who have endured immense hardship. Financially, soldiers receive a one-time payment of 100,000 hryvnias upon release, plus an annual stipend for their time in captivity. Additional provisions include 90 days of paid leave and an automatic deferment from mobilization, which is renewed every 90 days.
