In Kyiv, the schedule of the metro and other public transport will remain unchanged during the New Year's and Christmas holidays. The capital metro reported that despite the expectations of residents, no additional hours of operation are planned: the transport will operate according to the standard schedule established considering the martial law. This is reported by Telegraf.
In the subway, it is emphasized: the metro operates daily from 05:30–06:00 to 23:00, and currently there is no information about possible adjustments on the night of December 24 to 25 and from December 31 to January 1. The schedule remains tied to the requirements of martial law and the curfew in effect from 00:00 to 05:00. This means that during the holiday nights, the metro, like in previous years, will not operate longer.
How the metro will operate on Christmas
Kyiv metro confirmed that as of the beginning of December, no changes are planned:
-
working hours remain between 05:30–06:00 – 23:00;
-
the movement on the night of December 24 to 25 will not be extended;
-
the curfew remains in effect and restricts public transport movements at night.
Despite the expectations of the residents, the traditional extension of metro operation during the holiday nights is not possible due to safety rules and restrictions related to martial law.
The schedule of public transport in previous years
Since 2022, the capital metro has not changed its work schedule for Christmas or New Year. The rides started at 5–6 AM and ended at 23:00, regardless of holiday dates. The curfew was also not canceled: sometimes, on the contrary, it was tightened. So this time, Kyivans should plan their movements considering the existing restrictions.
Earlier, we wrote that the metro to Vinogradar will not exist in 2026.
