Ukrainians who are in Poland under temporary protection can receive financial assistance for voluntary return home. This refers to payments of up to 1000 euros along with organizational support during departure. This is reported by “InPoland”.

Payments for Ukrainians in Poland: who can receive assistance

Voluntary return programs operate in European Union countries ahead of the expiration of temporary protection. In Poland, they are implemented under the model of AVRR – Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration.

They are coordinated by the International Organization for Migration in conjunction with the Polish authorities. Participation in the program is voluntary and available for Ukrainians with temporary protection status.

Return program from Poland: what are the conditions and payments

Within the program, participants are offered not only financial assistance but also support at all stages of return:

  • compensation for travel expenses to the border of Ukraine;

  • one-time payment of 500 to 1000 euros;

  • consultations and assistance with documents;

  • organizational support during the trip.

In some cases, additional support is provided for families with children and people in vulnerable situations.

Experts note that voluntary return helps avoid the risks associated with losing status without explanation, as well as possible difficulties when re-entering EU countries.

The AVRR programs are aimed not only at departure but also at adaptation after returning to Ukraine, including basic assistance to start life after returning.

Let us remind you that the European Commission, after extending temporary protection for Ukrainians until 2027, recommends member states a number of initiatives, including organizing familiarization tours in Ukraine for those who are considering returning home.
