After the onset of the full-scale war, millions of Ukrainians fled to EU countries, and their contribution to the economy turned out to be much greater than expected. The most vivid example is Poland, where Ukrainians have become an important part of the labor market. The Association of Companies for International Employment writes about this.
Ukrainians in Poland: Contribution to the Labor Market and Economy
According to the president of the association, Vasyl Voskoboynyk, between 5 and 7 million Ukrainians have migrated to the EU. They not only consume goods and services but also actively seek employment.
In Poland, Ukrainians make up about 5% of all employed in the economy and 66% among legally employed foreigners. They have covered the labor shortage in key sectors:
-
industry and manufacturing - 22–25%;
-
transport and logistics - 12%;
-
hospitality and restaurant business - 14%;
-
construction - 13%.
