Preparation of Heating Systems in Ukraine
Due to the drop in temperature to -20°C in Ukraine, experts emphasize the importance of preparing heating systems to avoid failures and problems with heat supply. In particular, they highlight the necessity of draining water from the heating system, which can prevent pipe breakages during the cold season. This winter marks the fourth during the full-scale war, and the issue of heating supply stability becomes particularly pressing.
Expert Comments
Olexiy Kucherenko, the first deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on energy and utilities, stressed that local authorities made incorrect decisions in 2006 that led to pipe breakages in Alchevsk. Meanwhile, Mykhailo Gonchar, president of the Globalistics Center 'Strategy XXI', pointed out that stable heating supply depends on two key factors.
Oleksandr Serhiyenko, director of the Kyiv analytical and research center ‘Institute of the City’, reported that each heating point has special drains for draining water from the system, allowing for timely execution of this procedure.
Gonchar also noted that, despite many housing maintenance companies servicing dozens of buildings, water can be drained in a timely manner. Mykhailo Gonchar
At the same time, Kucherenko assured that there is currently no reason to panic, as the situation is under control. Experts believe that proper preparation of management companies for critical situations can significantly improve heating stability in conditions of severe frost.
The drop in temperature to -20°C raises urgent questions regarding the preparation and functioning of the heating system in Ukraine. In wartime conditions and limited resources, it is crucial to ensure the reliability of heat supply to avoid potential crisis situations. Successful implementation of preparatory measures, including the drainage of water from the system, can significantly reduce the risks of breakages and emergencies, which is critically important for the comfort of the population during the winter period.
