The President of the Ukrainian Luge Federation, Taras Hartsula, expressed his satisfaction with the achievements in suspending Russian athletes from Olympic qualification. According to him, the Sports Arbitration Court decided in October this year to revoke the neutral status of some Russian athletes who violated neutrality requirements and supported the war in Eastern Ukraine.
To achieve this goal, the Ukrainian delegation worked together with sports organizations, lawyers, and journalists. As a result of their efforts, three Russian athletes have been suspended from participating in competitions, and the process concerning other Russians is ongoing.
Hartsula emphasized the importance of thorough verification of athletes' statuses before each competition to ensure fair competition and avoid violations.
