The State Border Guard Service explained the situation with queues for entry into Ukraine, which are actively discussed on social networks. According to border guards, videos of large traffic jams do not reflect the overall picture at all checkpoints. This is reported by 'RBK-Ukraine'.

Queues at the Ukrainian border 2026: where the most congestion occurs

Spokesman of the SBGS Andrii Demchenko reported that passenger traffic began to increase at the beginning of the spring holidays.

In recent days, the border has been crossed by:

  • about 90 thousand people on Friday

  • over 107 thousand people in one day the day before.

On weekends, the number of those returning to Ukraine exceeded the number of those leaving. In particular, on Saturday, the difference was about 12 thousand people.

The highest load traditionally falls on the Polish direction - about 50% of the total flow.

Main congestion points:

  • 'Shehyni'

  • 'Krakiwets'.

Here, about 200 vehicles are lined up in queues, while the situation at other points is much calmer.

Situation at the Ukrainian border: what affects the flows

According to Demchenko, several factors have influenced the increase in queues:

  • completion of spring holidays

  • weekend days

  • partial return of Ukrainians before Easter.

At the same time, border guards emphasize that it is incorrect to speak of a mass return just due to the holiday period.

Separately, the situation at the pedestrian crossing 'Medika - Shehyni' was commented on. This is the only such point on the border with Poland, so local gatherings there are common. In recent days, about 1800-2100 people have been recorded there daily, without sharp increases.

The SBGS advises checking the loading of checkpoints before traveling and, if possible, choosing less popular routes.

At most crossings, queues are either negligible or absent, so the situation remains controlled.

Recall that Poland introduced biometric control at the border with Ukraine.
