A Call for Caution Amidst Domestic Challenges
Gennady Onishchenko, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has urged Russian citizens to avoid traveling abroad during the May holidays, warning that such trips could harm their health. He stated that
“it is hard to imagine a more foolish decision than leaving the country for the May holidays. Even if everything goes well, the very fact of a sharp change in climate and time zone is not a vacation, but a self-imposed stress.”
Meanwhile, the fast-food sector in Russia is facing severe difficulties. By the end of 2025, the profits of the largest chains had dropped between 15 and over 60 percent. As a result, the number of coffee shops across the country has declined, and foot traffic in public catering establishments has plummeted.
Circus Incident Highlights Broader Instability
Against this backdrop, an incident occurred in Rostov-on-Don when a tiger escaped from the stage during a circus performance and ended up among the audience. This event further underscores the unstable conditions in the country and the challenges facing the public.
The phrase 'tiger escape' may symbolize not only problems in the entertainment sector but also reflect the growing social anxieties among the population. The decline in revenues within the food service industry points to an economic downturn that could affect consumer behavior and societal morale. These factors, combined with calls for caution during travel, may indicate a worsening of public issues and the need to adapt to new realities.
