Excise taxes on fuel will increase from 2026: how much will gasoline and diesel rise in price

З 2026 року заплановане підвищення акцизних зборів на пальне: які зміни чекають на ціни бензину та дизельного пального.

Increase of excise tax on fuel in Ukraine

Starting from January 1, 2026, an increase in the excise tax on fuel will come into effect in Ukraine, which will impact the final prices at gas stations. With the new excise rates, the price of gasoline and diesel fuel will rise, affecting consumers.

According to the new excise rates, the excise for 1,000 liters of gasoline will amount to 300.8 euros, while for diesel fuel it will be 253.8 euros. The excise for liquefied gas will also be 198 euros. The average price for A-95 gasoline is currently approximately 58.7 UAH per liter, while diesel is sold for 56.5 UAH per liter, and autogas for 34.5 UAH per liter.

Projected fuel prices

The projected fuel prices starting from January 1, 2026 suggest that:

  • gasoline may rise to 60-61 UAH per liter,
  • diesel - to 58.5-59.5 UAH per liter,
  • autogas - to 35.5-36.5 UAH per liter.
Andrii Kyrianchuk notes that the increase in excise taxes will add between 1.5 UAH to 2.5-3 UAH per liter for various types of fuel.

However, he also emphasizes that the increase in prices will not be a shock therapy for the population, as gas stations still have sufficient fuel reserves.

The increase of excise tax on fuel in Ukraine is part of the state's overall policy aimed at optimizing budget revenues. It is expected that the new excise rates will affect inflationary processes since the increase in fuel prices may lead to higher transportation costs for goods.

At the same time, experts note that due to the availability of fuel reserves and the gradual transition to new prices, the impact on consumers may be moderate, which will help avoid sharp fluctuations in the market. This may also reflect the overall stability in Ukraine's energy sector in the face of challenges facing the country's economy.
