The Day of Memory of the Three Saints

On this day, Christians remember the holy patriarchs of Constantinople:

  • Alexander of Constantinople (died 340) - the first archbishop of Constantinople, who was noted for his perseverance in combating the Arian heresy and helped to preserve Orthodoxy in the city.

  • John the Faster (died 595) - a patriarch of the 6th century, who was famous for his strict asceticism, spiritual guidance, and struggle against heresies that denied the immortality of the soul.

  • Paul IV the New (died 784) - a patriarch of the 8th century, who actively opposed iconoclasm, and later, having recognized his mistakes, abdicated the throne and entered a monastery, where he peacefully died.

These saints symbolize wisdom, moderation, and perseverance in faith.
