The lowest pension in Poland and indexation
The number of so-called “penny” pensions in Poland is rapidly increasing. If in 2011 there were 23.9 thousand, by 2024 there are already over 433 thousand, which is almost 10% of all payments calculated under the new system.
The Polish government plans to carry out an indexation of pensions for old age and disability from March 1, 2026. The minimum increase is to be 4.9%, which will raise the minimum pension from 1,878.91 to 1,970.98 zlotys. The final amount of the indexation will depend on inflation and wage growth data published by Główny Urząd Statystyczny (GUS) at the beginning of February.
For the financing of pension increases in 2026, the Polish government has allocated 22 billion zlotys.
