The US-Iran conflict: incidents with aviation and new escalation
Alongside human losses, incidents with military hardware are being recorded. Iran reported shooting down an American F-15E Strike Eagle, while an A-10 Thunderbolt II crashed in the Persian Gulf area.
According to the American side:
- one F-15E crew member was evacuated;
- search for the second is ongoing;
- the pilot of the A-10 was rescued after the crash.
These events have become one of the most serious escalations in recent weeks of combat operations.
At the same time, diplomatic efforts have yet to yield results. The UN Security Council has failed to make a decision regarding the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz. The discussions have been postponed without specifying new deadlines.
According to international agencies, this involves a complex draft resolution that could pave the way for a new military operation.
It should be noted that the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt to halt the fighting between the US and Iran have not yielded results. The Iranian side officially refused to meet with American representatives in Islamabad, complicating the negotiation process.
