In Kryvyi Rih, the modernization of public transport continues, without giving up free travel for passengers. This year, after major repairs, two trolleybuses have already returned to the routes, while several more vehicles are at various stages of upgrade. This is reported by UAZMI.
Public transport in Kryvyi Rih: which trolleybuses are being upgraded in 2026
After major repairs, two trolleybuses have already entered the city routes. One of them has received a diesel-generator unit, allowing it to move autonomously without a contact network. The other has undergone modernization with the restoration of the generator.
Currently, specialists are repairing another trolleybus. The work includes restoring the load-bearing structure, repairing bridges and the central reducer, updating the body and interior using modern composite materials.
Modernization of control systems, replacement of high-voltage and low-voltage equipment, repair of roof equipment, pneumatic systems, and finishing works are also being carried out.
Free travel in Kryvyi Rih: how the city updates transport
According to the head of the city's defense council, Oleksandr Vilkul, after the completion of the current work, the public enterprise plans to carry out major repairs on three more trolleybuses.
He noted that since 2022, the city has purchased 10 new buses, as well as capital repairs on 11 trams and already 23 trolleybuses, which have effectively become new vehicles after modernization.
As of the first half of 2026, public transport in Kryvyi Rih has transported 24.4 million passengers. During peak hours, 80 trolleybuses and 32 buses operate daily on the routes, ensuring free travel for city residents.
