Johnny Weir: sports career and connection with figure skating

Johnny Weir's interest in figure skating began back in 1994 after Oksana Baiul's performances at the Winter Olympics. Throughout his professional career, he became a three-time US champion and won a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2008.

Weir represented the US at the 2006 Olympics in Turin and the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. After retiring from competitive skating, he works as a sports commentator and figure skating expert on American television, particularly during the Olympic broadcasts.

Let’s remember, the USA team won the team tournament in figure skating at the 2026 Olympics thanks to Illya Malinin.
