Analysts Dismiss Claims of an Offensive on the Kinburn Spit

Експерти спростовують твердження про можливу атаку на Кінбурнському пересипу.

Current Situation on the Kinburn Spit

Experts from DeepState have rejected reports suggesting a potential military advance on the Kinburn Spit, clarifying that a Ukrainian flag was merely dropped from a drone. As of now, there is no verified evidence of Russian forces actively withdrawing from the area. The enemy continues to use the Kinburn Spit as a launch point for Molniya drones targeting Mykolaiv and Kherson, while also deploying electronic warfare (EW) and electronic intelligence (ELINT) systems.

According to DeepState,

“There is no offensive taking place on the Kinburn Spit; the flag was dropped from a drone, which is simply a nice detail.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s defense forces are working to make the enemy’s presence and operations as difficult as possible. The claim of a Russian retreat from the Kinburn Spit was also denied by Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk, who stressed that the area remains an active combat zone.

Strategic Importance of the Kinburn Spit

Situated between the Dnipro-Bug Estuary and the Black Sea, the Kinburn Spit holds major strategic value because it enables control over a portion of the maritime area. Separately, there have been reports of infrastructure strikes in the regions of Kerch, Feodosia, and Sevastopol, as well as the destruction of a bridge over the North Crimean Canal.

This has heightened concerns in Crimea about the peninsula’s growing isolation. Russian authorities have acknowledged fuel and electricity supply issues, while propagandists have begun discussing scenarios involving the potential loss of control over logistics routes to occupied Crimea.

The situation underscores the importance of controlling the Kinburn Spit for both sides in the conflict. Since the region remains an active war zone, any shift in control could significantly alter the military strategies of both Ukraine and Russia. It is also important to note the reported infrastructure damage in Crimea, which could exacerbate internal challenges for Russian forces and increase social tensions on the peninsula.

As the situation on the Kinburn Spit remains tense, the Ukrainian Navy emphasizes the area's ongoing significance in the conflict.
