The court has released military musician Andriy Antonenko under continuous house arrest, who is accused of murdering journalist Pavlo Sheremet.
The man is also required to wear an electronic monitoring device, i.e., a bracelet, reports the publication INKORR.com
The defense of Antonenko requested to change the measure of restraint.
The prosecutor did not oppose this and said he relied on the discretion of the court.
At the same time, he believed that the risks of Antonenko hiding from the court or exerting pressure on other participants in the case remain. According to the prosecutor, continuous house arrest with an electronic bracelet can ensure the proper behavior of the accused.
The lawyers requested to release the musician under personal obligations. They stated, among other things, that the case is being considered quite rapidly, but 'for objective reasons it is not possible to do it quickly enough to ensure the principle of continuity.'
Several MPs also wanted to guarantee Antonenko. In particular, the court heard MPs and ATO veterans Mykhailo Bondar ('European Solidarity') and Ihor Herasymenko ('Servant of the People').
The defense regularly requested to mitigate the measure of restraint for Antonenko, but earlier the prosecution opposed this, and the court left the musician in detention. He had been held in custody since December 2019.

Another accused - doctor Yuliia Kuzmenko - was also initially in the detention center. The court released her under house arrest on August 11.
The third defendant in the case - nurse Yana Duhar - has been assigned a measure of restraint in the form of bail.
Andriy Antonenko himself stated that the change of the measure of restraint is a 'small victory' and thanked everyone who supported and helped him.
Direct speech of Antonenko: 'This is a small victory in the battle, but not a victory in the great war that is still ahead.'
