A powerful anticyclone is locking frigid air over Ukraine, with temperatures currently running 13 degrees Celsius below the seasonal average. In the northern and northeastern regions, overnight lows are forecast to plunge to -23...-25°C. Daytime temperatures in the north, center, and west will struggle to reach -9...-15°C. Conditions are slightly less severe in the South and Southeast, where nighttime readings will range from -4...-9°C, with daytime highs around -6°C. While temperatures in the Zakarpattia region may approach 0°C, this offers little respite from the widespread deep freeze.
