Anti-corruption communications in Ukraine: which campaigns work best

The final meeting "Anti-corruption communication strategy: experience, results, horizon to 2030" discussed effective communication strategies for combating corruption in Ukraine. Various campaigns implemented in the country were reviewed, as well as tools used to raise awareness and engage citizens in the fight against corruption.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine presented its approaches, which included:

  • storytelling
  • infographics
  • humorous videos

These tools contribute to better perception of important information and attract the attention of a wide audience. The State Bureau of Investigations focused its campaign on real cases of returning funds to the budget, providing practical context for the fight against corruption. Meanwhile, the campaign "Don't offer — we don't take," implemented by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, aims to warn citizens against corrupt practices.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine used violation reporting channels, allowing citizens to report cases of corruption. The EUkrainian campaign explains that steps against corruption bring Ukraine closer to European standards, which is an important aspect for society. An example of successful changes is the case of international bus transportation, which demonstrated 350 new legal routes.

The Institutional Development Foundation launched an interactive platform for anti-corruption commissioners, simplifying the interaction process among various participants in anti-corruption activities. Victoria Savchenko emphasized that

“one of the key factors for success was the clear definition of target audiences”
, confirming the importance of adapting communication strategies to specific demographic groups. Svyatoslav Bilan called:
“Witnessed corruption? Report!”
, highlighting the active participation of citizens in detecting and combating corruption manifestations.

The meeting was an important step in forming effective anti-corruption communications in Ukraine, providing an opportunity for exchanging experiences and best practices among participants.

Discussions at the meeting emphasized the importance of collective efforts in the fight against corruption in Ukraine, as effective communication strategies can significantly increase public awareness and encourage active citizen engagement in this process. Implementing innovative approaches, such as interactive platforms and creative campaigns, are important elements in combating corrupt practices.

Successful examples presented during the meeting demonstrate that the fight against corruption is not only possible but requires the active participation of every citizen. This can be an important factor on the path to strengthening trust in state institutions and forming a more transparent society.
