Two Russian Tu-95 bombers, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, departed from the Sea of Japan towards the East China Sea to meet two Chinese H-6 bombers. After that, they conducted a prolonged joint patrol over the Pacific Ocean.

Four Chinese J-16 fighters joined the bombers during their flight between the Japanese islands of Okinawa and Miyako, which are in international waters.

Japan also recorded the activity of the Russian Air Force in the Sea of Japan, which involved an A-50 early warning aircraft and two Su-30 fighters. Japanese fighters 'strictly adhered to air defense identification measures,' according to Koizumi. Russian media reported that the duration of the joint Russian-Chinese patrol near Japan lasted eight hours.

Previously, Japan reported that on October 24, it scrambled fighters to monitor Russian military aircraft potentially carrying nuclear weapons that were flying along the border of its airspace near the coastline.

Japan took control of the actions of Russian and Chinese military aircraft near its airspace in response to the joint operations of these countries, which were recognized as threats to national security.
