Roman Yaremchuk Shares His Impressions of Training and the Upcoming Friendly

Ukraine national team striker Roman Yaremchuk has revealed his thoughts on the training sessions led by newly appointed coach Andrea Maldera and offered a preview of the upcoming friendly match against Denmark. The Ukrainian squad recently secured a 2-0 win over Poland, with Yaremchuk himself scoring one of the goals. Meanwhile, Denmark played out a goalless draw against DR Congo (0-0). This friendly comes as both teams look to fine-tune their squads ahead of future competitive fixtures.

The Denmark vs. Ukraine friendly is scheduled for June 7 in Odense, with kickoff set for 19:30 Kyiv time. Yaremchuk emphasized the significance of holding training camps in Ukraine, stating:

“Training in our home country? First of all, I want to say that these are very important events taking place in Ukraine for our fans. They want to see us, children want to get autographs and talk with us. So I believe it’s important to do this more often. I’m glad it happened for the first time in five years. We, the players, really enjoyed it. I hope the fans did too.”

Training Under Andrea Maldera’s Guidance

Regarding the sessions led by Maldera, Yaremchuk noted a dramatic shift in their approach:

“We now have a lot of theoretical classes. I think the players are really enjoying them. We’re discovering football from a new perspective. After turning 30, I’m learning about the game in such detail that I never imagined possible.”
He also highlighted that the team is still adapting to the new coach but stressed that 'the coach needs time. He has to build a team. He can’t do that in just one, two, or three matches.'

Recently, the Ukraine national team, along with the coaching staff and UAF President Andriy Shevchenko, visited the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Western Region in Lviv. This visit was part of the national team’s training camp held in Ukraine.

Ukraine is preparing for the upcoming match against Denmark, aiming to build on their recent success. Training under Andrea Maldera promises fresh tactical approaches and strategies that could shape the team’s development in the near future.
