Duplantis Sets New World Record
Swedish track and field star Armand Duplantis has broken his own world record in the pole vault, soaring over a bar set at 6.31 meters. The historic clearance occurred at the Mondo Classic meet in Sweden, marking the first time the vaulter has surpassed the 6.30-meter mark. This achievement represents the fifteenth time Duplantis has rewritten the world record in his discipline. His previous record of 6.30 meters was set just months earlier at the World Championships in Tokyo in September 2025. Duplantis, a dominant force in the sport, continues to push the boundaries of human performance in the pole vault.
The 26-year-old athlete also holds the world indoor record, which he previously set at 6.27 meters at a meet in France in March 2025. Duplantis is a three-time world and European champion, as well as an Olympic gold medalist from both the Tokyo and Paris Games.

In a separate event, a major organizational error derailed the U.S. Half Marathon Championship. With just over a kilometer remaining, the lead vehicle mistakenly directed the race favorite, Jess McClain, off course. Two other runners, Edna Kurgaat and Emma Gray Hurley, followed McClain for approximately 500 meters in the wrong direction. This costly detour added an extra kilometer and roughly three minutes to their race times. As a result, Jess McClain finished in ninth place, while the victory went to Molly Born, who was far behind the leaders when the incorrect turn was made.
