Ukrainian national team winger Andriy Yarmolenko called the defeat to Northern Ireland by a score of 0:3 painful, but not catastrophic. After the third round of the Nations League, he urged the team to analyze their mistakes and maintain a positive attitude: nothing is decided yet in the group. This is reported by Sport.ua. Before the tournament started, Ukraine was placed in the B2 Nations League group.
What Yarmolenko said about Ukraine's defeat
According to the footballer, the coaching staff must point out the mistakes the team made, especially in attack. Yarmolenko noted that the opponents scored all the goals they created, and three conceded goals are too many.
«Of course, we will analyze this game. I think the coach will point out to us the mistakes we made, primarily in attack. We conceded three goals, and I believe that in such a game, that's too much, as the opponents scored everything they created,» he said.
At the same time, the winger does not believe that the result has put an end to the team's chances. The national team needs to draw conclusions and prepare for the next matches. In B2 group, Ukraine competes with Hungary, Georgia, and Northern Ireland, and the winner will be promoted to Division A. It was previously announced that the team is now led by new coach Andrea Maldera.
Why the national team of Ukraine does not consider the tournament decided
Yarmolenko admitted that losing with such a score is hard, but he urged not to lose faith after one unsuccessful match. In his opinion, the team needs to move forward with a positive mood.
«I believe that nothing terrible has happened. Yes, losing is hard, especially with such a score, but nothing is decided in this group yet. We need to move forward and do it positively,» the footballer emphasized.
The defeat to Northern Ireland became a serious reason for the national team to review their game in attack and defense. Future matches will show whether the team can quickly respond to the setback and return to the fight for first place in the group. Earlier, Inkorr talked about the composition of the Ukraine national team and Andriy Yarmolenko's return to the team.
