Detection of a powerful X-ray flare in NGC 1275

Scientists from the University of Michigan and their colleagues have recorded a powerful X-ray flare that occurred in the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy NGC 1275. This phenomenon began in February 2023 and became the most powerful of all recorded flares in this galaxy. 296 days after the initial X-ray flare, a burst of radio emission was detected, which became the subject of further investigation.
