Chuhuiv Targeted in Overnight Attack
In the early hours of April 2, the city of Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv region was struck by drones. The attack caused fires in apartments on the second, third, and fourth floors of a four-story residential building, with the total fire area covering 300 square meters. The assault damaged the apartment block and surrounding infrastructure. This incident is part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukrainian cities far from the front lines.
Two civilians sustained injuries during the attack. In addition to the main apartment building, neighboring houses and the local gas network were also damaged. All emergency services are on the scene, with 36 rescue workers from the State Emergency Service using 9 pieces of equipment to manage the aftermath. It was also reported that the nearby regional capital, Kharkiv, came under drone attack as well.
Aftermath of the Assault
The strikes on Chuhuiv and Kharkiv underscore the ongoing military activity in the region and its severe impact on civilian life. The persistent armed conflict continues to destroy critical infrastructure and endanger the safety of residents. Emergency crews are working to contain the damage, but the situation remains tense, with the threat of further attacks still present.
The recent drone attack on Chuhuiv is not an isolated incident. Just days earlier, a similar strike resulted in tragic casualties and significant property damage. This pattern of aggression highlights the escalating threat to civilian areas in the region.
