Drone Strike on Kharkiv Meat Plant Kills Two, Injures Seven

Атака безпілотника на м’ясний завод у Харкові призвела до загибелі двох людей та поранення семи.

Drone Attack Targets Meat Processing Plant in Kharkiv

A Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck a civilian enterprise in Kharkiv's Shevchenkivskyi district on March 11, specifically targeting the 'MK Meatnyi' meat processing plant. The attack resulted in two fatalities and seven injuries. The injured include women aged 47, 50, and 60, and men aged 33, 36, 39, 49, and 60. All casualties were transported to a hospital for emergency medical care. This incident is part of a pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure far from the front lines.

Aftermath of the Strike

The attack ignited a fire covering approximately 50 square meters at the scene. Units from Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES), law enforcement agencies, and emergency medical teams were deployed to manage the aftermath and extinguish the blaze.

Commenting on the situation, Oleg Syniehubov stated: 'This is a food industry enterprise, a meat processing plant, to put it simply. I repeat, this enterprise has absolutely no connection to military infrastructure. I repeat again, this is terrorism against our business in broad daylight, essentially, when people had just come to work.'

It is worth noting that the 'MK Meatnyi' meat processing plant was founded over 20 years ago. In 2024, the enterprise was destroyed by a Russian missile strike on Kharkiv, underscoring the persistent and severe threats faced by the civilian sector during the ongoing conflict. The repeated targeting of such facilities highlights the vulnerability of non-military industries in wartime.

This latest attack serves as further evidence of escalating violence against civilian objects in Ukraine amid the prolonged war. It emphasizes the peril faced by businesses with no ties to military activity that nonetheless become targets. The situation points to the urgent need for protecting civilian infrastructure and populations during conflict and underscores the importance of international attention to such incidents.
