Residential Areas Under Attack
In the Sumy region, an overnight Russian drone strike on a residential neighborhood in the city of Konotop left five people wounded, three of whom are children. The attack sparked a fire in a private home and damaged four residential properties. Emergency crews were able to extinguish the blaze.
Later that morning, on June 5, the enemy struck the city of Bilopillia, where a utility building caught fire. All sources of ignition were brought under control, and no casualties were reported.
Ongoing Threat to Civilians
These incidents highlight the continued danger Russian forces pose to civilians in Ukraine. The targeting of residential areas, including through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, underscores an escalation of violence and the risks faced by peaceful inhabitants. In the aftermath of the events in Konotop and Bilopillia, emergency services remain on the ground, working to mitigate the consequences of the attacks and ensure public safety.
The recent drone strike in Konotop is not an isolated incident, as the ongoing conflict continues to endanger civilian lives. A tragic event earlier this year saw a 94-year-old woman lose her life in a similar attack, emphasizing the persistent threat that Russian forces pose to the local population. Such incidents raise concerns about the safety of residents in affected areas.
