Drone Attack on Kryvyi Rih
Kryvyi Rih was subjected to a massive attack by suicide drones of the 'Shahed' type on the night of January 14, 2026. This attack led to significant disruptions in power and heat supply. The enemy targeted a critical infrastructure facility, resulting in over 45 thousand subscribers being left without electricity.
More than 700 houses were also disconnected from heat supply. Large boilers with a capacity of 6 kilovolts cannot be technically connected to alternative power sources, complicating the restoration of heat supply. In this regard, the city's utility services are operating in an enhanced mode, trying to solve the situation.
Water Supply Situation
The city's water utility stations switched to generator operation to ensure water supply to residents. Oleksandr Vilkul noted:
“Generators of such power do not exist in nature.” - Oleksandr Vilkul
This emphasizes the complexity of the situation. He also urged wishing luck to the energy workers, heat suppliers, and utility workers, and thanked them for their hard work in freezing conditions.
This attack on Kryvyi Rih is part of a broader strategy that involves targeted strikes on critical infrastructure in Ukraine. It demonstrates the vulnerability of energy systems, especially during the winter period when the demand for energy and heat significantly increases.
The situation underscores the need for:
- strengthening infrastructure protection
- readiness for emergencies
In conditions where utility and energy workers are operating at the limit of their capabilities.
