The US promised to defend NATO in the event of Russian aggression. On Friday, September 12, the acting US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, stated to the UN Security Council that the United States would 'defend every inch of NATO territory' in the event of an intrusion by Russian drones into Poland, according to Reuters.
She emphasized the need to support NATO allies during airspace violations, noting that caution in such situations is important. At the same time, these statements were made after comments from US President Donald Trump regarding a possible mistake in the intrusion of Russian UAVs into Poland, and their aim is to reassure Washington's NATO allies.
The diplomat also noted that the bombing of Ukraine by Moscow intensified after the meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska, which was an attempt to end the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, but at the same time violated the airspace of a US ally. This caused decisive dissatisfaction from Thomas-Greenfield.
As a result, the American ambassador to the UN warns against further aggressive actions by Russia in the region, emphasizing the US's readiness to defend its NATO allies.
