Після ракетних обстрілів Дніпра та Одеси постраждало численне населення.

Strikes on Dnipro and Odesa

Between the evening of May 17 and the early hours of May 18, 2026, Russia launched a series of attacks on the city of Dnipro, raising the number of wounded to 18. Among the injured are a two-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy, both currently receiving outpatient care. Eight individuals—four women and four men—have been hospitalized, with medical staff describing their condition as moderate in severity.

The assault unfolded from the night of May 17 into May 18, as Russian forces targeted the Dnipropetrovsk region using drones, Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles, and missiles. Around 2:30 a.m., missiles struck a residential neighborhood in Dnipro, causing significant destruction and casualties. The shelling resulted in two fatalities.

Aftermath of the Attacks

Separately, Russian troops struck Odesa, where two local residents sustained injuries. Several homes in the Prymorskyi and Kyivskyi districts were damaged, including the roofs of three-story buildings and a single-story house. The attacks also affected a city lyceum and a kindergarten in Odesa.

'Eight people have been hospitalized—four women and four men. Doctors assess their condition as moderate. All victims are receiving necessary care,' stated Oleksandr Hanzhu.

The tragedy in Dnipro and Odesa stands as another brutal example of the consequences of military operations on Ukrainian soil. These events highlight the escalating tensions in the region and the worsening humanitarian crisis driven by the armed conflict. Attacks on civilian infrastructure, including residential areas and educational institutions, have raised alarm among local populations and the international community, signaling a further escalation of violence in Ukraine.

The recent attacks in Dnipro and Odesa are part of a troubling trend, as evidenced by a series of massive strikes that have also impacted Mykolaiv. These incidents highlight the ongoing risks faced by civilians in Ukraine, where injuries and destruction of property continue to escalate amid the conflict. The situation remains dire as communities grapple with the aftermath of such violence.
