Drone Attack Claims Lives in Dnipro
A hostile drone strike on the Dnipropetrovsk region overnight on February 1 resulted in the deaths of two people—a man and a woman—in the city of Dnipro. The attack, confirmed by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Ganzha, ignited a fire that destroyed one private house, damaged two other homes, and left a passenger car in ruins. These assaults on civilian areas are a grim feature of the ongoing conflict.
Nikopol District Shelled with Artillery and Drones
Separate artillery and FPV-drone attacks targeted the Nikopol district on the evening and night of the same date, aiming at the district center and the Marhanets community. The shelling caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including:
- two apartment buildings
- four private houses
- an outbuilding
- a cafe
- several shops
- automobiles
- a gas pipeline
- a power line
Earlier in the day, the Pokrovska community was also shelled, damaging one private home and one farm building. In a related development, the attack on the Synelnykove station has led to restrictions on rail traffic to Dnipro. These attacks come as a fragile energy-sector ceasefire, which was set to expire overnight on February 1, comes to an end.
The regional situation remains tense, with continued strikes on civilian infrastructure despite attempts at diplomatic agreements. The conclusion of the energy truce raises concerns about a potential new escalation of hostilities, alarming both local residents and authorities. Officials are urging citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols, as the threat of further attacks remains high.
