Emergency Power Cuts in Kyiv
Following an attack on energy infrastructure by hostile forces, emergency power outages have been implemented in parts of Kyiv, resulting in civilian casualties. The assault was recorded on the capital's Left Bank, where the Dnipro and Darnytskyi districts are partially affected by these emergency blackouts. In the rest of Kyiv, scheduled power supply rotations are in effect. These strikes are part of a sustained campaign targeting Ukraine's critical energy grid, especially during the winter months.
Impact on Other Regions
Kyiv Oblast, the city of Dnipro, Sumy, and Konotop also came under attack overnight. Due to the massed bombardment of energy facilities, thousands of residents in Kharkiv were left without heating. Five residents of Kyiv were injured in the attack. Specifically, a man and a woman with lacerations were hospitalized from a damaged building in the capital's Dnipro district.
Furthermore, in Konotop, Sumy Oblast, a children's educational institution, private homes, and other objects were damaged. As reported by DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks, the Dnipro and Darnytskyi districts of the capital are partially under emergency power cuts. The situation remains complex and challenging for repair crews.
This assault on energy infrastructure is part of a broader strategy by hostile forces aimed at destabilizing Ukraine's critically important energy supply systems. As a result of such attacks, local residents face severe consequences, including a lack of electricity and heating, which is especially critical during winter. Authorities continue to take measures to ensure safety and restore power supply, yet the situation remains tense.
