Strike on Kyiv

During the night of July 6, a strike hit Kyiv, damaging the residence of actress and TV host Olena Kravets. By the morning of July 6, authorities had confirmed 11 fatalities. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) verified the death toll and released images of the aftermath. Residents across multiple districts of the capital reported damage to high-rise apartment buildings.

Maria Kravets Speaks Out

Olena Kravets’ daughter, Maria, shared details of the event on Instagram. She stated that the blast shattered her parents' windows and struck close to a friend's home.

“Our neighborhood is completely covered in smoke, explosions right overhead that shake the entire building. Five hours of terror under the alert, completely sleepless,” Maria Kravets wrote.
She also expressed relief that all family and close ones survived:
“The most important thing is that all relatives and loved ones are alive, but this is absolutely brutal. Condolences to those affected. Let’s stay strong,” Maria added.

In response to the tragedy, Kyiv declared July 7 a day of mourning. This event serves as yet another stark example of the consequences of aggression Ukrainians endure amid the ongoing war. Notably, during a strike on Kyiv on the night of July 2, Russian terrorists also destroyed the home of director Oleh Chornyi and his wife Iryna Plekhova.

This latest attack on Kyiv underscores the prolonged and intense nature of hostilities that continue to impact Ukrainians’ daily lives. The declaration of a day of mourning reflects the profound societal grief and losses the country faces. Each new tragedy highlights the urgent need for international support and sustained efforts toward restoring peace.

The ongoing conflict has led to multiple devastating strikes on Kyiv, with the recent incident affecting both residents and public figures alike. Just days prior, a similar attack resulted in significant damage to the home of director Oleh Chornyi, illustrating the relentless nature of these assaults.
