Kyivstar Infrastructure Status
A massive enemy attack has left 40-60% of mobile operator Kyivstar's infrastructure without power across nine Ukrainian regions. According to company data, just over 1,000 of its 16,500 base stations are currently non-operational, causing significant communication disruptions in the affected areas. This attack on critical civilian infrastructure is part of a wider pattern seen in the ongoing conflict.
Kyivstar's representative, Oleksandr Komarov, stated that the company is experiencing a complete power blackout in some regions. However, he noted that less than 10% of the core network is down, indicating a degree of resilience as it is protected for up to 72 hours. Komarov expressed confidence that the company could endure even longer under the current circumstances.
Network Sustainability Efforts
To sustain network operations, Kyivstar has mobilized over 2,000 employees. This allows the company to respond swiftly to challenges arising from the attack and do everything possible to restore communications in the impacted regions.
The power loss situation at Kyivstar reflects the broader challenges Ukraine faces during the armed conflict. Communication outages can severely impact emergency response coordination and public access to vital information. Restoring communications and power in the affected regions will remain a priority for the company, as stable communication links are critically important during wartime.
