Strike on Crimea: Occupied Sevastopol Left Without Power and Fuel

Атака на Крівм: Севастополь опинився без електропостачання та пального.

Situation in Occupied Sevastopol

Rolling blackouts have been imposed in occupied Sevastopol following a drone attack on Crimea overnight on June 21. The assault damaged local power grids, forcing authorities to introduce temporary electricity cuts to prevent system overloads outside the city. The self-proclaimed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, confirmed the measure.

During the night of June 21, drones struck occupied Crimea, with explosions reported in Simferopol, Kerch, and Sevastopol. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Defense Forces targeted the occupiers' military logistics, oil infrastructure, and air defense systems. Strikes hit facilities on both sides of the Kerch Strait Bridge, including naval logistics in the Krasnodar region and an oil depot in Kerch.

Restrictions Across Crimea

Starting at 9:00 AM on June 21, all gas stations in Crimea were ordered to halt fuel sales to civilians entirely, aiming to ensure security. According to the so-called head of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, fuel will now be reserved exclusively for state services to maintain essential operations and public safety. Parts of occupied Crimea remain without electricity due to grid damage caused by the attacks.

These events highlight the ongoing challenges in energy supply and security across occupied Crimea, stemming directly from military actions. The implementation of power outage schedules and the ban on civilian fuel purchases underscore the severe repercussions of these strikes, which are likely to disrupt daily life for residents. Given the current trajectory, further military engagements could worsen humanitarian conditions in Crimea and pose additional hurdles for the occupation administration.

The recent strikes have not only caused significant disruptions in Sevastopol but also intensified military activities around the Kerch Strait.
