Attack on Vilniansk
On May 20, Russian forces struck the town of Vilniansk in the Zaporizhzhia region, hitting a private residence. The attack caused significant damage to the home and sparked a fire. The blast wave and debris also damaged a nearby car and several neighboring houses. Four people were injured in the incident: a man, a woman, a two-year-old boy, and a 12-year-old girl.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, stated: 'Four people have been wounded: a man, a woman, and two children—a two-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. All are receiving the necessary medical care.'
Scale of Attacks in the Zaporizhzhia Region
Over the past 24 hours, occupying forces launched 909 strikes across 42 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. These attacks resulted in seven people being wounded, including three children. Earlier, Russia targeted a railway station in Vilniansk, where two passengers suffered shrapnel injuries.
In addition, the Russian military struck Dnipro, killing two people and injuring six others. That same night, drones attacked Odesa, completely destroying a one-story building and hitting a multi-story apartment block. Occupying forces also targeted the city of Konotop in the Sumy region, where a direct hit on a five-story building caused three floors to collapse.
These events highlight the escalating conflict in Ukraine, particularly in the southern and eastern parts of the country. Large-scale attacks on civilian infrastructure, resulting in casualties among non-combatants, underscore the severity of the situation. Local authorities continue to provide medical aid to the injured, but the relentless strikes pose ongoing threats to the safety of residents, raising concerns both domestically and internationally.
Moreover, the recent surge in violence in the Zaporizhzhia region is alarming, as evidenced by another incident where precision strikes have led to casualties and extensive damage.
