Five Confirmed Dead in Russian Strike on Kyiv: Casualty Count Rises

Kyiv Under Attack: Events of June 1–2, 2026

During the night of June 1–2, 2026, Russian forces launched a strike on Kyiv, resulting in multiple casualties and widespread damage. By 11:30 a.m., the death toll had climbed to five. The victims include a 53-year-old man, a 77-year-old woman, two men aged 46 and 49, and a 28-year-old woman. One of the injured later died in the hospital.

At least nine high-rise apartment buildings, two gas stations, a clinic, a kindergarten, two car dealerships, offices, and administrative buildings were damaged. In response, the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into what it describes as another war crime committed by Russian military personnel, under Article 438, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

The press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
