Strike on Zaporizhzhia

In the early hours of June 26, Russian forces launched a large-scale ballistic missile attack on Zaporizhzhia, with a crew from Ukraine's public broadcaster Suspilne caught at the epicenter of the explosion. The missile struck a residential district, sparking a massive fire. Although the journalists on the scene did not suffer serious injuries, one reporter sustained a mild blast-induced ear injury.

Over the course of that night, Russian troops carried out 887 strikes across 44 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region. The bombardments resulted in one fatality and ten wounded individuals. Residential homes, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Attacks on Odesa Region

Separately, Russian forces also targeted energy and civilian infrastructure in the Vylkove urban hromada of Odesa region. This attack left one person injured and cut off electricity to part of the community.

These strikes are part of the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, which continue to inflict severe harm on civilians and critical infrastructure. The targeting of residential areas and utilities underscores the escalating violence in the region and raises serious concerns for the safety of local residents. Moreover, such attacks highlight the urgent need for continued international support for Ukraine amid aggression and the imperative to protect non-combatants in armed conflicts.

The recent missile attack on Zaporizhzhia is part of a broader pattern of violence affecting civilians across Ukraine. In a similar incident, a strike in the Odesa region resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, further illustrating the dire consequences of ongoing hostilities.
