Drone Attacks in Russia
On the night of January 10, 2024, drone attacks occurred in Russia, affecting the Volgograd region and Krasnodar. As a result of these attacks, a fire broke out at an oil depot in the Volgograd region due to falling debris. The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, confirmed the information about the fire.
Additionally, in Krasnodar, airport operations were restricted due to these attacks. It is important to note that similar incidents have occurred in the past:
- On the night of December 4, 2023, explosions were also reported in the Oryol region and Stavropol Krai. Residents of Oryol reported at least 10 explosions, while at least six explosions occurred in Nevinnomyssk, including a probable hit on the large chemical enterprise 'Azot'.
- On the night of November 2, 2023, drone attacks also took place in the Krasnodar region. Explosions were heard in Tuapse, Lazarevsky, and near the seaport of Temryuk. It is known that in Tuapse, 'Pier 1 of the Tuapse Oil Terminal', which has a capacity exceeding 2 million tons per year, was hit.
These events indicate an increasing activity of drone attacks in various regions of Russia, raising concerns among local residents and relevant services.
Drone attacks in Russia demonstrate an escalation of conflict and a growing level of threats to critical infrastructure.
Given the frequent cases of explosions and fires, local authorities and security services may be forced to take additional measures to ensure the safety of the population. This may also affect public opinion regarding security measures and the ability of the authorities to protect their citizens from such threats.
