Maurizio Sarri Takes the Helm at Atalanta

Serie A side Atalanta has officially named 67-year-old Maurizio Sarri as their new head coach. He takes over from Raffaele Palladino, who stepped down after a string of underwhelming results. Sarri’s contract with the Bergamo-based club runs through 2029, with his annual salary reportedly set at €3.5 million.

Sarri previously turned down an offer from Napoli, the club he managed from 2015 to 2018. Most recently, he coached Lazio, leading them to the Coppa Italia final last season. Over his career, he has also managed top clubs like Juventus and Chelsea. Atalanta, who finished seventh in Serie A last season and qualified for the Conference League, hopes Sarri’s experience will help improve their performance.

Juventus Rejects Arsenal’s Bid for Kenan Yildiz

In other news, Juventus has refused to sell forward Kenan Yildiz to London club Arsenal. The Premier League champions offered €100 million for the 19-year-old, but the Bianconeri have no intention of letting the winger go at any price. Yildiz joined Juventus in the summer of 2022, having been poached from Bayern Munich’s youth setup. In three senior seasons, he has made 47 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists. The Turkish winger’s contract with Juventus runs until the summer of 2030.

Sarri’s appointment could mark a significant step for Atalanta as they aim to rejoin the fight for top spots in Serie A. His track record with leading European clubs may prove valuable in driving the team forward.

Meanwhile, Juventus’s refusal to sell Yildiz underscores the club’s determination to retain key players, a move that could bolster their ambitions in both domestic and European competitions.

As Atalanta looks to enhance its standing in Serie A with the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, Juventus is simultaneously focused on maintaining its key talents. The club's recent decision to reject a substantial offer from Arsenal for a rising star highlights their commitment to building a strong squad for upcoming challenges.
