Lviv neighborhoods lose power following grid emergency

Внаслідок аварійної ситуації в електромережі, частина районів Львова залишилася без світла.

Emergency power outage hits Lviv

A fault in the 110 kV electricity network has left customers without power in several parts of Lviv, including the downtown area, the Frankivskyi district, and the Novyi Lviv residential district. The city council said the outage was caused by the heat, and utility crews are currently working to restore supply.

According to preliminary estimates, electricity should be back within about an hour, although tram and trolleybus services may face disruptions. Ukrenergo has again urged consumers to reduce energy consumption between 10:00 and 23:00 and to postpone energy-intensive tasks such as:

  • doing laundry
  • heating water in boilers
  • running the dishwasher

Outages elsewhere in the country

Meanwhile, as of Thursday morning, fresh power cuts were reported in the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions as a result of Russian attacks. Repair teams have begun restoration work there where the security situation allows.

This episode highlights the fragility of Ukraine's power system, which is being tested by both hot-weather demand and ongoing military strikes. Restoring electricity in the affected areas remains a priority, but safety conditions continue to complicate the effort.
