Emergency power outages: which regions of Ukraine face the most difficult situation

The situation in Ukraine's energy system remains complicated due to shelling and increased electricity consumption, which has led to emergency outages in several regions. As of January 14, at 9:30 AM, electricity consumption was 5.4% higher than at the same time the previous day. This indicates an increase in the load on the energy system, which is already under pressure.

Critical regions and issues

Emergency outages are implemented in the following regions:

  • Kyiv
  • Kyiv region
  • Odessa region
  • Kharkiv region
  • Sumy region
  • Poltava region

The situation in these regions is particularly critical, as shelling and weather conditions negatively affect the stability of electricity supply. In particular, on January 13, the daily maximum consumption was 3.2% lower than the maximum on January 12, indicating instability in the operation of the system.

Furthermore, due to bad weather, 12 settlements in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions have been disconnected from power. This once again highlights the problems faced by the regions, especially in the context of worsening weather conditions. In Kyiv, about 500 apartment buildings remain without heat, creating additional difficulties for residents.

The situation in the energy system requires attention and urgent measures to improve the stability of electricity supply in the mentioned regions.

The situation with electricity supply in Ukraine demonstrates critical challenges faced by the country amid armed conflict and worsening weather conditions. The increase in electricity consumption combined with infrastructure shelling and adverse weather conditions creates serious problems for the energy system. This requires urgent response from government authorities and energy companies to ensure stability and security of electricity supply, especially in critical regions.
