Airstrike Targets Sumy

An airstrike hit a residential neighborhood in the city of Sumy in the early hours of February 21, 2026, around 4 a.m. The attack, carried out with an aerial bomb, resulted in civilian casualties. Among the wounded were a 5-year-old child, a 17-year-old girl, and an 87-year-old woman who required hospitalization.

The airstrike caused significant damage to private homes and outbuildings in the city's Kovpakivskyi district. Emergency responders, law enforcement, and municipal services are already on the scene working to clear the aftermath of the attack.

Drone Assault on Odesa Region

That same night, on February 21, a mass drone raid struck the Odesa region, hitting residential areas, an educational institution, and energy infrastructure. This incident left two people injured and caused major destruction to private houses and apartment buildings, as well as triggering fires.

These events underscore the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which continues to take a heavy toll on the civilian population. The increasing frequency of attacks on residential districts and critical infrastructure marks a concerning escalation in the violence. Local authorities and rescue services are currently focused on providing aid to the victims and mitigating the damage, as the safety of citizens remains the top priority in this situation. The war, now in its fourth year, has seen a pattern of such strikes deep inside Ukrainian territory.
