Claiming the top spot is Whitehaven Beach in Australia, located on the largest island in the Whitsunday archipelago. The beach's sand is nearly 98 percent silica, and since it lies inside the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the Whitsunday Islands National Park, it offers excellent conditions for snorkeling, diving, and sailing.
Visitors can also swim with sea turtles and watch humpback whales migrating through the area from July through September. To reach the beach, travelers can fly to Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne and then connect domestically to Whitsunday Coast Airport.
