In the Lviv region, suburban and intercity buses have become more expensive since the beginning of October. Along with the change in fare payment rules, passengers should check the price of their route: carriers predict an increase of 10–15%. This is reported by Suspilne.

Bus Fare Changes in the Lviv Region in October

The director of the road economy department of the Lviv OVA, Orest Shulikovsky, explained: previous fares were calculated based on diesel prices of 87 UAH/l. Now at gas stations, a liter costs about 100 UAH. Since the beginning of October, the department has received 14 notifications about intentions to raise fares.

According to carriers' forecasts, the minimum cost of a short trip could increase from 45 to 50 UAH. At the same time, there is no single new fare for the entire region: each carrier decides individually, rather than the regional administration.

Unlike city fares in Lviv, the current changes apply to suburban and intercity transport. The increase in the cost of a specific route does not automatically mean a rise on a neighboring route.

Stryi ATP Raised Prices: How Much Passengers Pay Extra

Stryi ATP, which serves about 40 routes, has already raised the prices of suburban and intercity trips by an average of 10%. According to the enterprise manager, Pavlo Malik, ticket prices increased primarily by 5–10 UAH.

«If at the beginning of the year we predicted a price of up to 60 hryvnias, now we are buying diesel fuel for 106 hryvnias per liter», — said Pavlo Malik.

In city routes of Stryi, prices have so far remained unchanged. However, the enterprise allows for a review if fuel prices continue to rise. In addition to diesel, expenses are also influenced by lubricants, spare parts, and exchange rates.

For passengers, an additional 5–10 UAH per ticket translates to 220–440 UAH in expenses per month for two trips over 22 working days. Carriers are obliged to inform in advance about any changes in prices.

It is also important to distinguish between city and suburban routes. For example, the bus from Lviv to Dublyany No. 80 was created as an alternative to the suburban No. 180a after it ceased operation. The route's affiliation should be confirmed by checking the fare.
