Ukrainians actively use the opportunity of free train travel within the program «3000 km across Ukraine». In a short time, passengers have booked about 40 thousand tickets, and the demand continues to grow. The initiative allows traveling across the country without additional costs and supports transport accessibility for residents of different regions. Minister for Communities and Transport Oleksii Kuleba reported on this.
According to Oleksii Kuleba, the program has already shown a high interest from passengers, especially on routes that have important logistical significance or connect large cities with regions affected by the war.
Most Popular Routes
According to the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, the most demanded routes are:
-
Fastiv – Konotop
-
Odesa – Zaporizhzhia
-
Kyiv / Zhmerinka – Shostka
-
Zaporizhzhia – Lviv
-
Sumy – Rakhiv.
These routes connect key transport hubs and ensure communication between the center, east, and south of the country. A significant part of the trips is made on routes important for residents of frontline and remote communities.
Free 3000 km from UZ: when does the program operate
Currently, free trips are available during off-peak periods. This approach allows for an even distribution of passenger flow and avoids overcrowding trains on days of maximum demand. The main focus is on supporting routes leading to frontline or combat-affected regions.
Authorities note that the program is planned to be expanded in the future. In the off-peak season, «Ukrzaliznytsia» is ready to offer up to 250 thousand seats per month, which will significantly increase the number of passengers who will use the free kilometers.
