Free preventive medical check-ups in Ukraine

Starting from January 1, 2026, free preventive medical check-ups will be available for citizens over 40 years old in Ukraine. The government plans to allocate 10 billion hryvnias for these check-ups, allowing every Ukrainian to receive 2,000 hryvnias per year for medical examinations.

All citizens who reach the age of 40 will receive an invitation for a medical check-up through the mobile application 'Diia' on the 30th day after their birthday. The funds allocated for the check-up will be transferred to a virtual card, simplifying the process of obtaining services.

Services provided under the program

Examinations can be conducted in state, municipal, and private medical institutions that meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health and the National Health Service of Ukraine for participation in the 'Health Screening 40+' program. According to information, among the services that will be available for free are:

  • blood pressure measurement
  • heart rate measurement
  • body mass measurement
  • laboratory tests
  • electrocardiography
  • lifestyle counseling
  • referrals to specialist doctors
  • post-visit support

This initiative aims to improve the health of the population and early detection of potential diseases, which could lead to a decrease in mortality rates and improve the quality of life for older individuals.

The introduction of free preventive medical check-ups is an important step towards improving the overall health of the population of Ukraine, especially among those over 40 years old, who are more vulnerable to various diseases. It is expected that the 'Health Screening 40+' program will contribute not only to the early detection of diseases but also to raising citizens' awareness of their health and how to maintain it. This could have a positive impact on the health care system in the country as a whole.
