Drone Strike Destroys Franz Roubaud Panorama in Occupied Sevastopol

Безжалісна атака безпілотника зруйнувала панораму Франца Рубо у Севастополі.

Attack on the Panorama Museum in Sevastopol

On the night of June 10, a fixed-wing drone struck the Museum-Panorama of the 1854-1855 Siege of Sevastopol in the temporarily occupied city. The assault triggered a fourth-rank fire, and the panoramic painting by artist Franz Roubaud has been all but destroyed. Emergency crews—83 personnel and 22 units of equipment—are working at the scene. This artwork, a massive historical painting, depicted a key battle from the Crimean War and held deep cultural significance for the region.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, head of the occupation administration, stated: 'Tonight, a fixed-wing drone deliberately targeted the building housing the Panorama of the 1854-1855 Siege of Sevastopol.'

He added: 'The situation is extremely dire: it is already clear that Franz Roubaud's panorama is virtually destroyed.'

New Measures and Other Attacks

Separately, starting at midnight on June 10, the Crimean occupation administration introduced a new railway schedule. Entry into the annexed peninsula by train is now only permitted from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

In the Russian city of Cheboksary, the VNIIR-Progress industrial facility was also attacked, struck by an FP-5 Flamingo missile. Meanwhile, in the Samara region, drones targeted the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery, where local residents reported a large fire.

The Panorama of the 1854-1855 Siege of Sevastopol stood as one of Russia's key symbolic landmarks in Sevastopol, underscoring its importance amid these recent events.

The destruction of the panorama carries profound symbolic weight, as it embodied Russia's military history in the area. At the same time, the new railway restrictions may signal tighter control by the occupation authorities over the movement of people and goods. These incidents highlight the ongoing tension in the region and the continuation of the conflict that began with the annexation of Crimea.
